About Widows Home

A History of Caring:

We have a proud history that spans three centuries and has touched generations of families throughout the Miami Valley. During that time, a tradition of caring has been established that truly sets us apart from other skilled nursing and rehab facilities in the area. We owe so much to the people who have shaped our organization over the years, but we understand that with that gratitude comes a responsibility to carry their dedication to improving lives forward into the future.

A Special Tradition

Started in 1872 as an organization to care for the widows of Civil War soldiers, the Widows Home of Dayton is now a full-service short-stay rehab and long-term skilled nursing center that helps men and women from all over the Miami Valley. We are a nonprofit, philanthropic health care community with a unique tradition of leadership that we’ve built over time by treating every resident, patient, and family member with respect and compassion that you don’t find just anywhere. Located in the heart of Greater Dayton, we provide area residents the treatment and attention they need and the quality of life they deserve. We do it all on a tranquil campus that delivers urban convenience and park-like charm. We consider our residents, caregivers, and staff an extended family because everyone here looks out for each other and truly cares about each individual’s well-being. This family atmosphere makes our community very special and is a big reason why we continue to grow and thrive. In fact, in an industry that’s known for frequent employee turnover, more than half of our Widows Home staff members have been with us for longer than ten years! They stay because they enjoy the people they care for and work with, and because they share our deep commitment to improving lives every single day.
