Established in 1872 to provide for those women who were left destitute and widowed by the Civil War, the Widows Home is a not-for-profit care center supported in part by the Widows Home Foundation. The Foundation was established to receive and manage gifts and bequests for the long-term support of the Home.

The original commitment to serve those in need has grown and flourished with the times. Today, the Widows Home continue to build upon the original commitment of caring, by providing an environment where residents can realize the highest quality of life possible.
